01 LEAD BY EXAMPLE A leader should set an example to their team and be a role model that others want to follow. This means you should behave in a way that you’d like your team to behave. Set high standards… and stick to them.
02 STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES Everybody has their strengths and weaknesses, it’s part of what makes us human. Make sure you keep this in mind when assigning roles to your team. Make sure you keep things positive – praise your team’s successes and make sure to offer support when things don’t go quite so well.

Don’t be afraid to come off as the bad guy at times… If your team respects you, they’ll trust in your actions and know you’re doing what’s best.

04 INVEST IN YOUR PEOPLE Understanding your team and what drives them personally is a great way of finding incentives and motivators that your team will respond to. Someone’s personal aspirations often dictate what motivates them; be it family, social life, experience, career progression or money – everyone is driven by different goals.

This is why it is vital for a leader to be mindful of every individual; their successes, their challenges and the support they require to. Make sure you enable them to achieve their goals.
