My Key Twitter Business Beliefs: I don’t view it as social media – I see it as an advertising media! The time I commit to Twitter is a business INVESTMENT! Twitter ONLY works as part of my wider marketing strategy! It is something I only do ‘live’! AND FINALLY….

What about ‘quality’ over ‘quantity’? I’d rather have ‘quantity’ of ‘quality’?
Average number of Twitter followers per account is 208 BUT that includes the ‘inactives’
If my 65,700 followers have on average just 208 followers each, that’s a potential ‘reach’ of 13.7 MILLION PEOPLE!
And every TEN more followers I add increases that 13.7 MILLION PEOPLE by 2,080!

How do I grow my followers? Make sure that when they look at your profile YOU are worth following back Profile? Is your profile FULLY complete? Does it have you location? Does it have a meaningful biography? Does it have your WEB SITE address in full (not shortened) Do you Tweet? No tweets (no follow back) What are your Tweets about? If they are just blatant adverts they wont follow back! Photograph or Biz Logo (NOTE! People prefer to deal with PEOPLE & NOT logos). Photo of YOU is better in my opinion?

How do I grow my followers? Don’t use ‘auto tools’ Pet Hate! There are lots of ‘tools’ that can automate Twitter responses like an auto Direct Message saying “hello” when someone follows you! They are nothing more than SPAM. If you can’t be bothered to engage with people for real, don’t bother with TWITTER!
How do I grow my followers? Unfollow those that don’t follow back (after 2 weeks +) using tools like Tweepi Be Ruthless! Unlike Facebook Twitter does not indicate to someone that you have unfollowed them. They won’t even KNOW! If they didn’t follow you back its because they don’t want to ‘engage’ with you, so no loss. If you don’t ‘sweep’ the unfollowers you will reach a ‘follower limit’ and won’t be allowed to follow more people!!!! Search for ‘follower limits’ in Twitter help.

Twitter is a Global Platform which is great if I want to sell my goods/services all over the World. But what if I only want to sell in a smaller geographical area? Organise a PARTY! Tell everyone what time to be there and what the secret word is to gain access! (the #HashTag)

1: Tweet to ‘give’ not to ‘get’ PET HATE! People ASKING for retweets or Facebook likes! STOP ASKING! START EARNING!
2: Tweet on a regular basis (Spreadsheet) (Twuffer/Tweetdeck) It takes 15/20 minutes a day! NO EXCUSES! START EARNING!
3: Always* follow back *Genuine Requests Not following back is extreme arrogance! It say’s “I’m happy that you want to hear my voice, BUT I’m not interested in YOUR VOICE!”
4: Tweet ‘original’ content PET HATE! People auto-tweeting famous quotes & phrases! STOP COPYING! START CREATING!
5: Tweet photographs* *Always add description This iPhone photo I took stood on Blackfriars Bridge on the 100th Anniversary of WWI got 137 retweets in ONE HOUR!
6: Use Hash tags (#) #bizitalk @bizitalk www.bizitalk.com Twitter TIP! Just Click on any Hash Tag in any Tweet to see all tweets with that Hash Tag! Small Business Sunday #SBS 5-7.30pm Every Sunday Organised by Theo Paphitis. He retweets 6 winners each Monday at 8pm & put them on a special SBS website.
