Chatter rose by almost 15% on Wednesday to over 29,700, soaring over yesterday’s growth of 9% and showing that there is no sign of the Festival quietening down just yet Sheryl Sandberg’s appearance on stage boosted mentions of both Facebook and Instagram, as both broke 1,000 mentions. Facebook rose to just over 1,000 while Instagram peaked at over 1,335 as Sandberg discussed her ad plans for the social platforms Sandberg’s presentation prompted ‘advertising’ to rocket as a buzz word by 128% on Wednesday, as she emphasised the importance of personalised ads Jared Leto was the day’s most talked about celeb and industry figure, with just under 3,000 mentions thanks to his discussions around brand advertising, the music industry and women’s rights. Sheryl Sandberg accumulated over 1,300 mentions, while Courtney Love sparked just over 900 conversations, following her appearance

This beat yesterday’s growth of 9%, showing that there is no sign of the Festival’s momentum slowing down anytime soon. Conversation peaked at over 2,500 posts mid-afternoon, fuelled by appearances from Sheryl Sandberg and Jared Leto. Both spoke of the role of women in marketing and the creative industries, while Sandberg also spoke about bringing the personalised touch to marketing.
Top Brands (by mentions) at Cannes Lions 2014: 18.06.14 (1am CET) – 18.06.14 (11.59pm CET) Sheryl Sandberg’s appearance on stage boosted mentions of both Facebook and Instagram, as both broke 1,000 mentions. Facebook rose to 1,007 while Instagram peaked at 1,338 as Sandberg talked about the importance of personalised advertising and discussed ad plans for the social platforms. Ogilvy’s success continued as its mentions rose by almost 15% to over 5,500. It continued to ride the wave of its award success to generate buzz. However, as with earlier in the week, its #OgilvyCannes hashtag and well-executed social strategy drove the majority of mentions.

Meanwhile, ‘women’ entered the top buzz words for the first time with over 490 mentions, and discussions around ‘design’ more than doubled as the Design Lions award winners were revealed. ‘Creativity’ remained the most common buzz word, featuring in over 1,830 conversations.
Most Mentioned Celebrities at Cannes Lions 2014: 18.06.14 (1am CET) – 18.06.14 (11.59pm CET) Jared Leto rose to the summit of the celebrity charts with over 2,990 mentions. He spoke at Cannes Lions yesterday about brand advertising, the music industry and women’s rights. Conversation peaked at around 11am local time with over 685 mentions. Elsewhere, Sheryl Sandberg’s popular advertising presentation helped her to accumulate over 1,300 mentions, while ex-Hole singer Courtney Love created plenty of online buzz following her appearance, fuelled in part by the posting of a selfie alongside Mariah Carey. Kanye West’s presence on Tuesday remained a steady major talking point, generating over 2,080 conversations throughout the day.
Top Hashtags at Cannes Lions 2014: 18.06.14 (1am CET) – 18.06.14 (11.59pm CET) Growth of the official #CannesLions tag slowed on Wednesday, increasing by just 2% to over 23,660 uses. #OgilvyCannes yet again dominated the unofficial stakes with 5,225 uses. #JaredLeto demonstrated the filmstar’s popularity with 660 appearances, more than any other celeb this week. Meanwhile, Microsoft’s #msftcannes hashtag also received a boost, with Calvin Harris’s appearance at its Cannes Beach Club generating over 165 retweets of the hashtag, and demonstrating the power of celebrity.
