It's had all the drama of one of his signature Hollywood blockbusters. And George Clooney ensured that his four-day Venetian wedding had the happiest of endings today as his marriage to British lawyer Amal Alamuddin was finally made official in a 10-minute, €600 civil ceremony in the Italian city. As the credits began to roll on proceedings, which had started on Friday afternoon, there was still time for one last scene to play out as the 53-year-old actor and his new wife arrived at Venice City Hall to complete formalities and sign the wedding register in front of witnesses.
George and Amal left the Aman Canal Grande in Venice on Sunday after their Saturday nuptials, sporting huge smiles.
It's not yet known where the couple will honeymoon but considering their lavish nuptials it will no doubt be an exotic.
Ever the romantics, George and Amal's speedboat was adorned with 'amore', which is the Italian word for love.
Hollywood's former favorite bachelor couldn't keep his eyes (or hands) off his gorgeous wife as they started their married life together on Sunday.
He's come full circle! Back in 1989, George married actress Talia Balsam in a wedding officiated by an Elvis Presley impersonator in Las Vegas.
Amal's 'day after' dress channeled a wedding aesthetic thanks to the white lace.
The lovebirds were surrounded by an idyllic setting with aqua blue skies and calm waters providing the most romantic of backdrops.
The lawyer and actor gave regal waves as they jetted across the pristine blue waters of Venice.
Amal's dress featured purple and red floral embellishments and a drop hem, which showed off her perfect pins while George kept it suave in a slim-fit grey suit.
George and Amal made their marriage official with a 10-minute ceremony in Venice on Monday following a weekend of celebrations.
While George showed off his wedding band, Amal's huge engagement ring was clearly visible.
A beaming George held tightly to his beautiful bride's hand as they left Venice's City Hall following their 10-minute ceremony.
While many of George's celebrity pals left Venice on Monday, Bono and his wife Ali Hewson attended the civil ceremony.
The pair couldn't have looked any happier as they celebrated their marriage one more time following their civil ceremony.
Amal has been wearing her wedding band on her left hand with her engagement ring on her right as is tradition in parts of Europe.
Matt Damon and wife Luciana and Emily Blunt and husband John Krasinski led the celebrity exodus from Venice on Monday following the weekend's celebrations.
After fulfilling his duties as best man, George's pal and Cindy Crawford's husband Rande Gerber left Venice on Monday with his wife.
